Roan Kikunoi, Kyoto

Good things come to those who plan ahead. We were so lucky to get to Kyoto
with the cherry blossoms in full bloom and booked all of our restaurants through our hotel concierge.
Tip: do not leave it until you arrive to chance a booking.

Roan Kikunoi is a Michelin-starred restaurant and offers a menu that is dictated by the chef's own personal tastes.
As we arrived, we were ushered to a tatami room upstairs and greeted by smiling and bowing lovely kimono-clad waitresses.
We had the most impeccable kaiseki (elegant Japanese meal served in succession) experience at Roan Kikunoi. Coarse after coarse beautifully presented dishes kept coming. Every dish has its own unique twist and flavour based on a seasonal theme.  New textures and flavours repeatedly ignite my taste buds
and I became like an excited child!
